Secular TJEd

I've mentioned before that we use the Thomas Jefferson Education philosophy (or Leadership Education) in our 'homeschool'.  It's also Mormon based, but there are a few of us secular folks out here too.  Lately, I've been going back and forth on whether I want to stick with this or just call ourselves unschoolers.  Part of that was an association with Glenn Beck, who you may know isn't a big fan of atheists.  In my hemming and hawing, I would send off emails to my friend Mo, who would then smack me back to reality.  Finally, I decided that I was going to have to make a decision and so I shot off an email to the TJEd Secular list that I co-own.  Well.....there has been a flurry of activity.  It basically boils down to if we (secular folks) want to have more of a say in who represents us in the future, we are going to have to stop sitting around twiddling our thumbs.  We need to be part of the discussions.  Clearly we have a few things to say!  So of course, I am busy this weekend with my SIL's wedding, but by Monday I plan to dive in and actually be my little heathen self on these lists and forums.  I think several others are going to be there too.  It's really sort of exciting.  If you've heard of TJEd before but thought it was too conservative, you might want to check it out again soon.  Better yet, come be part of the discussions!

  2. There was a pretty active discussion going on at Glen Beck's 9/12 page the other day about the exclusion of atheists but they shut down comments before I got to put in my two cents.
