Reading this week

"So please, oh PLEASE, we beg, we pray, Go throw your TV set away, And in its place you can install, A lovely bookshelf on the wall." — Roald Dahl, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

Robotson and I finished Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. I cried as I read the end of chapter 35 and practically all of chapter 36. Then got a bit misty again when Harry is talking to Dumbledore about what happened. As Robotson would say... it's just not fair. We'll be reading The Half-Blood Prince next in preparation for the movie. After that, we both want to read some nonfiction, as well as much shorter stories for a little while.

The girls nightly reading included:

A few poems from A Light in the Attic

Storynory requests this week:

  1. I am a big Harry Potter fan. I always admired how she managed to weave such a complex tale without mentioning God even once. I can't wait for the time when my daughter can read it too.
Our Ocean Home looks very interesting. I should see if our local library has it.

  2. My kids enjoy Ed Emberley's books. We haven't read Go Away Big Green Monster. I will have to keep it in mind.

    My post is here.

  3. Storynory is a big hit in this house as well, especially since I've instituted the "no TV during the day" rule! Thanks for the book links -- we'll check them out!
