Weekend Galileo

"All truths are easy to understand once they are discovered; the point is to discover them."

The kids were thrilled to see the Galileoscope arrive this week. We waited until Saturday to put it together. One thing I suggest if you have one arriving soon, download the instructions here. You'll see why below.

Opened up the box! The girls wanted to touch everything.

I laid all the pieces out and tried to make sure everything was there. There is a list of all the pieces but no pictures, which made it hard to identify them.

Then we got started!

We started out by following the instructions, so far so good.

But as you can see, we ended up with "extras". That's wasn't right! So I went to the Galileoscope website for help. There I downloaded this PDF with pictures. Much better! Now to disassemble and try again.

Finished! Now we are just waiting for it to get dark outside!

  1. I'm looking forward to hearing how it worked out! GREAT pictures. :)

  2. Yeah, I found the online instructions invaluable. The included sheet just didn't have enough information on it.

  3. Thanks Kit!

Matthew-wonder why they didn't send it with better directions?

  4. Mine *still* haven't arrived. How were yours delivered (UPS, USPS, FedEx)? When did you place your order? Give me hope, please. (*smile*)

  5. M-mv- I ordered mine on May 10th and it came by USPS. Crammed into my mailbox actually...grrr. When did you order yours?

  6. April 6. *sigh* Over the last five years, we've had any number of delivery mix-ups, so I'm hoping my scopes will make it here soon. To tell you the truth, I'm just glad to learn the Galileoscope project isn't a scam: It took them *so* long to get the scopes manufactured and shipped; I really had started to wonder.

    Many thanks for the reply.

  7. Sorry to hear it's taking so long Melissa. I hope you find them soon!
