The flyer pretty much says it all. If you are in the Atlanta area and are interested in our first actual event, then join us on Easter Sunday at Ronald Reagan Park around 2pm. This is the first of what we hope will be a monthly get together to foster the community of non-believers.
Despite the lack of news, the idea is still very much alive. Richard has been working behind the scenes on all of the hard paperwork stuff. We are trying to find a semi-permanent location that can accommodate our (hopefully) growing assembly, until we can find that perfect something of our own. That's one of the hardest parts, finding a place to meet regularly.
The rest should fall into place. I've never been a member of a church, but I often hear people say that leaving one is very hard, especially for families. Our hope is that we can build something that offers that missing connection, and maybe even spreads to other cities and towns. There's no better way to promote free thought and fight superstition than by having a presence, and showing the world that nonbelievers are normal, caring, active members of their communities.
So I hope you'll give us a chance. More than that, I hope you will help us. Please email us with any questions or ideas. Or you can leave a comment here. If you can't make it out on the 4th, we are planning to meet monthly; the first Sunday of the month. I think the time will remain 2pm, but the location is TBD.
