"A vacation is like love - anticipated with pleasure, experienced with discomfort, and remembered with nostalgia." ~Author Unknown
We were on vacation last week! On Sunday night, we packed everything up and headed to the family home on Lake Sinclair. Robotson has already written about the trip on his blog. I'm super proud of him!
I've still got a lot of pictures that we want to post, so I am going to break them up over the next few days.
On Tuesday, I wanted to go for a walk. B was going to drive the golf cart so we could stop by the dumpsters, and the kids could hop on to ride when they didn't want to walk anymore. It was a really good plan until we began to run out of power, about halfway out. We'd already been out for an hour and a half, and the kids were tired. Normally it doesn't take that long to get to the dumpsters, but we'd stopped several times along the way to listen or look at things. We decided to split up. I took Robotson and Dimples, and started walking back. B and Funny Girl were going to try to finish the trash run, and swing back to pick us up. About 30 minutes later, we see a truck coming behind us; behind them was the golf cart. They'd completely run out of power just a few minutes after we'd separated. It was extremely lucky that someone came along, because it could have been a very exhausting day otherwise.
We hopped back on and got towed back. The ride is pretty bumpy on those back roads. I was trying to hold a sleeping Dimples and had my arm over the seat to keep a hold of Funny Girl too. By the time we got back, I'd pulled every muscle in my arm, as well as picked up a burn and bruising; the last of which is finally fading away. Despite all that, it was an adventure the kids enjoyed. We made sure to power up the golf cart fully for any future trips though!
Come with us on our exciting nature walk!
