March 2011: Week Three

Another good week for us.  The only thing I want to do better is consistent bedtime reading.  This is always our weakest area, yet when we do it I think it's good for all of us.  The problem is having too many evening commitments.  Monday was GUST, Tuesday was movie night, Wednesday and Thursday I was trying to catch up on some stuff so I let them stay up, and Friday began the weekend.  Oh well, on to next week.  Robotson and I will finish The Mysterious Benedict Society this week for his book club on Friday.  I need to check with Funny Girl and see if she wants to participate and what she wants to read.  Speaking of Funny Girl, she wanted her hair cut like Roxanne Ritchie in Megamind.  So that's what we did.

It was mostly more of the same for everything else.  We read math books, played Timez Attack, and celebrated Pi  Day, which is apparently not as good as Tau Day now.  But you can't bake Tau so I really don't see the point.  I'm sticking with Pi.  I baked our last frozen cherry pie, made a pumpkin pie, and tried out a new recipe for vegan banana cream.  Everything was delicious!

Thursday we met with Mama of Letters at the Bear Hollow Zoo in Athens.  The weather was perfect and we had a really nice time.  It's nice to do some things on this side of town for a change.  I think we'll be doing much more of that in the future.  Next up, a trip to the State Botanical Gardens.  I bet it's amazing this time of year!

I'm doing the spring cleaning right now.  It feels good to be transitioning from a closed winter to open warmer months.  This is how it always feels to me anyway.  The windows and doors are open so it's time to declutter, free up space, and get the dirt out.  We've done so well over the past several years at not acquiring a bunch of stuff that it hasn't been an overwhelming task.  So far, I've got only a couple of trash bags with clothes to hand off and I'm halfway done.  That said, I should get back to it!
Gobble, gobble
It's a pile of turtles.
