Secular Thursday: Need Inspiration

These secular Thursday posts are the hardest for me to write.  What more is there to say about homeschooling without religion?  It's just what we do.  I guess if we had no support and got a lot of grief I'd have plenty to say.  I want to keep a presence in this weekly posting though because I know there are many who need that support.  Maybe I need to just ask if there is anything you want me to write about?  I can't pretend to be an expert on parenting, homeschooling, or raising kids without religion, but I'm am living the dream.  So if there is some aspect of this that you all want to know more about, let me know.  You can comment or email me privately (link on the left side there.)

Otherwise, I'll just try to write when I feel particularly inspired and skip it when I don't.

  1. I'm wondering what you DO teach your children about religion in the world. Although you don't follow a religion yourself, do you teach your children about the beliefs of others? What do you do about holidays? Do you celebrate Christmas, Easter, etc? We do and this always feels very hypocritical to me, but we continue to because our parents/grandparents were raised in the United Church and celebrate all of these holidays. Maybe you've already posted on this topic...I'll look.
