Valentine's Day 2012

This is a first for us, celebrating Valentine's day.  It's sort of a silly holiday really.  I mean you should show love for the people in your life every day.  Plus it's just another excuse to eat junk food and buy things you don't need.  On top of all of that, it's based in Christianity.  Never the less, we decided to exchange valentines this year with our homeschool group.  Since it was our first and we had plenty of time, the kids and I looked for a simple craft to do.

Funny Girl decided to go with pencils like this.

Dimples wanted to make bracelets based on these.

And Robotson wanted to do a tie-dye similar to this.

The kids added their own personal touches and had a blast!  The exchange was supposed to be today, but the weather was icky.  We have colds also, so it looks like we are postponing until next week.  Hopefully the weather will be nicer!

Happy Valentine's Day (Even if it is a silly holiday.)

  1. you know, it may be a christian holyday in name - but in name only. Some guy named Valentine may have been burned ages ago that day, but it really has nothing to do with what we celebrate :-) For us, Valentines day is a day to step out of our family routine as couple and maybe go out to dinner, I made a heart shaped cake and decorated it with the kids - I see it as a reminder not to take your SO for granted :-)

I discovered you over the "secular thursday" blogpost at smrt lernins :-)
